Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov is a dynamically developing University, one of the oldest universities of the Republic of Belarus. It was founded in 1910 and since then has been a leading educational, scientific and cultural centre of the Vitebsk region. VSU named after P.M. Masherov is a scientific-educational complex that includes 11 faculties that work on the enhancement of study programmes and the quality of teaching/learning, 41 departments, Institute of Further and Advanced Training, Polotsk and Orsha colleges, 2 scientific laboratories, the centre of psychological assistance. Students are taught in 56 programmes (43 at the first stage and 17 at the second stage). The total number of students is 7792. The number of teachers is 486: 22 Professors (Doctors of Science), 215 PhD (associate professors). VSU, in particular its art-graphic faculty, is a well-known institution of teaching visual culture and art in Belarus.
