About the Project / О проекте

It started with the idea of Iryna Hauska, who is presently studying towards a Master degree in Visual culture and Education with specialisation art education at Konstfack, based on her personal experiences as a student of art at (now named) Vitebsk State University as well as her Konstfack studies. The teaching provided by professors Gothlund and Lind made clear the need for developing sustainable knowledge about gendered power relations, discrimination and human rights, especially within the context of education. The main idea of the project is to promote ideas and measures against gender inequality. The Swedish partners will investigate gender issues and how to explore and communicate them. The project will focus on establishing contacts and discussion partners. The project is designed to establish contacts and activities in a country that is geographically close to Sweden but where we lack cooperation in many fields of artistic practice. The Swedish team has been in contact with the partner in Belarus during the fall of 2016 and discussed the general contents of the project. The main plan originated in Stockholm and has ben coordinated with the Belarusian partners. Vitebsk is a progressive center of art and a politically active city in the north-east part of Belarus, close to the Russian border.
